Los Angeles, CA (October 2, 2026) — ¿Qiensave? return with FISHSALADCUMBIACHRONICALS,” a new single featuring Angelo Moore of legendary punk and ska band Fishbone. The song finds The Brothers Cortez at their rawest, stripping the music down to its rhythmic foundation while bringing together cumbia, jazz, and an abundance of sounds into an unexpected cross-cultural collaboration. Composed by bassist William Cortez and produced by Greg Landau, “FISHSALADCUMBIACHRONICALS” is a musician-driven track built around groove, movement, and improvisational energy. Rather than relying on vocals to tell its story, the song lets the instrumentation take the lead, creating space for each musician to join the conversation. Angelo Moore enters this collaboration playing the saxophone, Theremin, and additional instrumentation, adding another dimension to the track’s already unconventional arrangement. Known for his work as the frontman of Fishbone, Moore brings his distinctive musical voice into ¿Qiensave?’s cumbia-rooted sound, creating a collision between the band’s musical influences and the punk, ska, funk, and jazz traditions that have shaped Moore’s career. At its core, “FISHSALADCUMBIACHRONICALS” is about the chemistry between musicians. William Cortez’s composition establishes the framework, Greg Landau’s production shapes the recording, and Moore’s instrumentation pushes the track into unexpected territory. The result is a raw, rhythmic instrumental that feels equally at home on a cumbia dance floor, a funk show, or a late-night jam session. The single marks the third release from ¿Qiensave?’s upcoming album Así Las Cosas, following “Sed De Tu Amor” and “3AM.” Each single has offered a different glimpse into the album’s direction, with “Sed De Tu Amor” introducing the project’s evolving sound and “3AM” moving into a darker, more atmospheric space. “FISHSALADCUMBIACHRONICALS” continues that progression by putting the band’s instrumental chemistry and genre-blurring approach front and center. For The Brothers Cortez, Así Las Cosas represents another chapter in an ongoing musical journey that continues to expand beyond the traditional boundaries of cumbia. ¿Qiénsave? continues to build its sound through the collision of cumbia with other modern musical genres The release also arrives during a significant moment for the band. On October 4, just two days after the single’s release, ¿Qiensave? will perform at the 2026 Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The free festival’s 2026 lineup includes ¿Qiensave? alongside artists including Los Lobos, Mavis Staples, My Morning Jacket, Old Crow Medicine Show, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, and many more. For a band coming out of California’s Salinas Valley, the appearance marks another step in The Brothers Cortez’s expanding journey, bringing their version of cumbia to one of the country’s most diverse and celebrated free music gatherings. With “FISHSALADCUMBIACHRONICALS,” ¿Qiénsave? aren’t simply adding another song to their catalog. They’re opening another door into the world of Así Las Cosas, one built on rhythm, collaboration, experimentation, and the freedom to let the music speak for itself. The band is made up of Carlos L. Cortez on rhythm guitar and Vocals, Mario Cortez on güira, keyboard, and Vocals, Ricardo Cortez on drums and vocals, and William Cortez on bass.
