We’re excited to share the new age of Nuevo Noise, our beloved series that spotlights emerging music talent. At Remezcla, we’ve always believed that Latine talent in music isn’t just a rarity or a “once-in-a-lifetime” chart topper. It’s a movement—diverse and constantly evolving. That’s why we’re turning up the volume on Nuevo Noise with an increased cadence, giving you even more opportunities to discover the artists who are just starting to make waves in their genres, communities, and cultures.
We love taking the time to truly get to know these artists, diving into the realities of their journeys and the stories that fuel their music. This month, we’re thrilled to feature El Rubio Acordeón, one of the buzziest young merengue talents out of the Dominican Republic. Remezcla caught up with El Rubio at his grandparents’ cacao farm just outside San Francisco de Macorís, where he grew up amidst the rhythm of horses, goats, and lush greenery. His rise to fame has been fueled by an almost daily performance schedule—a hustle that not only amplifies his unique sound but has also allowed him to invest in the land that nurtured his roots.
From his hit singles lighting up local airwaves to his relentless dedication to his craft, El Rubio Acordeón embodies the spirit of Nuevo Noise. His story is a testament to the power of staying true to one’s origins while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in music. We’re excited for you to read more about his journey in this latest installment, written by Richard Villegas, and we hope it inspires you as much as it did us.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Here’s to more discoveries, more stories, and more noise. Stay tuned for our upcoming stars for October & November — and read past features here.
