“ANGELA” comes on the heels of a successful summer for the Mexican artist, which included her first headlining U.S. tour and an appearance at Viva! Pomona.
Los Angeles, CA. (September 16, 2024). After captivating fans with her single “MMM,” a collaboration with Girl Ultra, last month, and making waves in the United States with her first headlining tour throughout the summer, today Mexican singer and songwriter Foudeqush arrives with her highly anticipated second EP “ANGELA,”available to stream now on digital music platforms via Finesse Records. Comprising eight tracks, “ANGELA” sees Foudeqush manipulating hypnotizing rhythms, such as UK garage, drill, techno, club, and drum and bass, to form an entrancing foundation for thought-provoking lyrics that boldly present realities that are often difficult to face. In contrast to her previous songs, which were rooted in romance, with “ANGELA,” the artist begins a new era, writing from a point of view that is more focused on her persona, character, and alter egos, and delving into raw topics like sexuality, drugs, nightlife, and experiences and environments in which she has been both directly and indirectly involved. While creating “ANGELA,” Foudeqush was inspired by the anime series “Haibane Renmei” and “Serial Experiments Lain,” two philosophical shows that explore the darker sides of life by addressing topics such as social alienation, guilt, and sin. Although its title is quite ironic, as the name Angela evokes the image of someone pure and innocent, the rising star’s newest songs are anything but and the EP conveys a similar mood as those series through its lyrics and arrangements. At the same, the title holds a double meaning because Fudeqush’s given name is also Angela, a fact that has been unknown by many until today. After her song “Con La Brisa” was featured in the international box office hit “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in 2022, Foudeqush, who hails from Coahuila, Mexico, has risen as one of Latin music’s most promising stars, captivating audiences at national and international festivals including AXE Ceremonia and SXSW and thrilling fans in Europe alongside her labelmate Girl Ultra and Mint Field. In 2023, she performed for the first time at Foro Indie Rocks! and this summer took the stage at the renowned festival Viva! Pomona. With “ANGELA,” Foudeqush continues the momentum she’s steadily been building this year, further solidifying her position as a new household name.
