Pablo Jaurena Premiers Music Video For “UN DIOS HECHO CENIZAS” a Previously Unreleased Work by Rodolfo Mederos

| Argentine bandoneonist, composer, and producer Pablo Jaurena presents the official music video for “Un dios hecho cenizas,” one of the most significant tracks on his latest album, Fueyerías. The piece “Un dios hecho cenizas,” composed by maestro Rodolfo Mederos, appears on Fueyerías in a previously unreleased version specially arranged for four bandoneons, conceived specifically for this project. The result transcends the boundaries of tango and becomes a meeting of generations, sensibilities, and different ways of understanding the bandoneon. The story of this collaboration began more than a year ago, when Pablo Jaurena invited Rodolfo Mederos to participate in Fueyerías. At first, they considered recording a traditional tango, but then the maestro proposed “Un dios hecho cenizas,” a composition he had written several years earlier for the second lineup of Generación Cero. For this album, Mederos created a new arrangement for four bandoneons, written specifically for the project and, true to his style, notated by hand in the “old-school” manner. This version, previously unreleased, reveals a new dimension of the piece and highlights the ensemble’s rich timbre and expressiveness. The recording brings together Rodolfo Mederos, Pablo Jaurena, Sofía Calvet, and Franco Bruschini, who perform a score that displays a harmonic and timbral richness rarely heard in this ensemble. More than a tribute to traditional tango, the work represents an aesthetic quest that explores new sonic territories without losing the expressive depth that characterizes the genre. The music video captures the intimacy of that musical encounter: the rehearsals, the shared listening experience, the rapport among the performers, and the creative process that brought this one-of-a-kind composition to life. The images reflect the spirit of a work born of admiration, learning, and artistic generosity.For Pablo Jaurena, this launch also has deep personal significance. “For me, Rodolfo Mederos is an undisputed role model. I’ve known him for over 25 years, and he has always shown me tremendous generosity. He was my bandoneon teacher, and through his teachings on the language of tango, he transformed the way I understand music.” One of the most symbolic moments in this story occurred on April 21, 2025, the date of the play’s only rehearsal, which coincided with the death of Pope Francis. This coincidence ended up lending even deeper meaning to the title of the play. For his part, Rodolfo Mederos describes the experience as a privilege:“Playing music is a privilege; playing your own music is an exciting experience, and doing so with intelligent and sensitive musicians is a pleasure. Un dios hecho cenizasbreaks with tradition and seeks new horizons. | More About Fueyerías Fueyerías is a recording project that redefines the possibilities of the bandoneon from a contemporary perspective, without losing sight of the depth of its tradition. Conceived by Argentine bandoneonist, composer, and producer Pablo Jaurena, the album brings together 34 musicians from five countries and three continents in a collaborative project that explores an uncommon format: bandoneon ensembles ranging from duos to sextets.
