Following her experimental track “APAPACHADA,” the Chicana Chicago-based artist Mila La Morena is back with her fourth and last single, “ESPEJO,” before releasing her upcoming album Post Internet on October 17.

“ESPEJO” is a vibrant and energetic Chicago house track paying homage to the city’s legendary underground electronic scene. The Spanglish song celebrates love, freedom, and joy, especially among queer friend groups who find a sanctuary for living their truth to the fullest on the dance floor. Written at Finesse Studio (founded by Girl Ultra and Foudeqush) and produced by KALIFRN and MONVCO, the track delivers a unique, rhythm-packed atmosphere with fierce, unapologetic lyrics that oozes attitude and commands attention.

It’s no secret that throughout history, clubs and nightlife have been a refuge for the queer community. “ESPEJO” is here to embody that spirit: struggle, joy, and authenticity. It’s an anthem for those who, while working minimum wage jobs by day, transform at night—creating looks, embracing visibility, and unleashing their true essence on the dance floor.

The captivating video, directed by KEIO and Niño Rosas, takes inspiration from Black Swan and portrays the transformation from innocence into a more confident, liberated self. It mirrors Mila’s dual identity—both online and offline—and hints at the themes of her upcoming album Post Internet, due on October 17.

Mila La Morena is a queer, Chicana artist whose project fuses R&B, reggaetón, pop, and electronic music into a sound that feels at once nostalgic and defiantly fresh. Singing in a perfect blend of English and Spanish, the Gen Z artist explores themes of love, power, and vulnerability through a lens shaped by her identity and lived experiences between the U.S. and Mexico City. Beyond her work as a composer and singer, Mila La Morena is a well-known cultural organizer involved in producing independent and DIY shows in Chicago, IL. She’s also been a part of important festivals like Ruido Fest, Tomorrow Never Knows Festival, and Villapalooza throughout her blossoming career. She has also made notable contributions through sync placements in films and TV series. One highlight is her song featured in Amarres, the first original series produced by HBO for Latin America

More about Mila la Morena

Based in Chicago, but with Mexican roots, Mila La Morena is an emerging project that fuses sound ranging from R&B and reggaeton to pop and electronica. Within her career, we can highlight the synchronizations she has done for series and movies, such as “Amarres,” a song that was part of the series produced by HBO for Latin America of the same name.

Although this project is emerging, she has long been an active figure within the Chicago indie circuit, both as a singer and songwriter and as a cultural manager in producing independent and DIY shows.

In addition to performing as a headlining artist at Chicago events such as Villapalooza and The Fly Honeys, which have led him to make his first tracks on the scene. Mila has participated in Chicago festivals such as Ruidofest, TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS and Villapalooza. She has also played shows at important venues such as Navy Pier and, this year, 2024, during her stay in Mexico City, she performed her music at some of the most popular parties and clubs, such as Algo Bien, Pegados, and Cincodoce.
